Why are moths nocturnal and why do they keep flying toward our lights? Come explore the answers to these questions, test your skills with Moth or Myth?, discover the surprising ways moths use stars to navigate at night, and get an up-close look at real specimens and their dazzling wing scales under magnification.

Star Activity: Wish Upon a Star

Flex your creativity and design your own star to add to our growing Lawrence Galaxy. Write your wish and hang your star alongside others on display! What will you wish for?

Star Talk With Dr. Bryan Mendez

Join us in the Forces that Shape the Bay outdoor exhibit near the Sun Stones II sculpture where UC Berkeley astronomer Dr. Bryan Mendez will give you a tour of the night sky as the Sun sets and the stars come out. Dr. Mendez will share points of interest in the summer sky, share scientific and cultural traditions of the stars and planets we can see, and explain what a meteor shower is and what we might expect to see throughout the night.

This course is PART 3 of our Leadership Essentials for Organizational Systems Change program, which is rooted in our belief that the capacity to achieve lasting systems change for racial equity depends on our capacity for personal growth, interpersonal effectiveness, and values-aligned leadership.

This three-course certificate program offers skills development and resources in the areas of socio-emotional resilience, leadership development approaches, and strategies for systems change rooted in your individual sphere of influence. The program is made up of three sequential learning opportunities: 1) Building Socio-Emotional Resilience; 2) Collaboration, Feedback, and Accountability; and 3) Designing an Action Plan.

Each course builds upon the previous one, and participants that successfully complete all three courses will receive a certificate of completion of the Leadership Essentials for Organizational Systems Change program. The Hub is an online platform for building and running participant surveys to evaluate STEM programs. It draws on a curated library of research-informed measures to help you build a survey, collect responses, and receive results you can use to understand a program, communicate its value, and make strategic decisions.

How It Works

We make it easy to set up and start using the Hub.

1. Fill out information about your program via our intake form

Describe your setting, participants, program content, duration, and evaluation goals.

2. Choose what you want to measure

Select the survey scales, demographic questions, and optional open-ended questions that best align with your goals.

3. Collect participant responses

Receive a survey link to share with participants. When needed, participant IDs can connect responses across pre- and post-surveys without collecting participant names.

4. Learn from your results

Access your data and request a report that turns responses into findings you can use with staff, partners, funders, and other stakeholders.

Evaluation That Works for Your Setting

The STEM Impact Hub is designed for formal and informal STEM learning organizations and the evaluators who work with them, including:
